We were contacted by a client for a wood pest control intervention inside their home. After an initial communication, we visited the property to carry out an inspection, during which we were able to assess the situation:
- Indoor parquet flooring showing clear signs of woodworm activity, including exit holes and fine powder (wood dust).
- Beams of the external porch also affected by wood-boring insects, with similar signs and slightly weakened sections of wood.
Diagnosis and planning
During the inspection we confirmed that the infestation was active and that it was necessary to intervene quickly to prevent further damage. In agreement with the client, we decided to use a microwave treatment with two emitters, a non-invasive technology particularly effective for structural wood and flooring.
The intervention
The treatment was carried out directly on the affected surfaces:
- We positioned the two microwave emitters over the parquet and on the porch beams, calibrating the power according to the thickness of the wood.
- The microwaves penetrated the wood, reaching the most hidden areas where woodworms often nest.
- The intervention allowed us to eliminate both adult insects and eggs, without using invasive chemical substances and without damaging the wood.
Results
At the end of the treatment, the parquet and beams were protected, with signs of woodworm activity completely gone. The client also received practical advice for maintenance and future monitoring, in order to preserve the wood in their home for a long time.
